evaluation

In my piece I tried to stick to the rule of other pieces I had seen that were like my own. From research I did I decided that for the opening scenes I would film a boxer training to give the audience more of a connection with the main character. On some of pieces I watched, a few of them put the main character training in their opening scenes so I thought it would be best for me to follow this rule.

My piece represents a social group where there is a lot of poverty as I thought this would go well with my idea of a underdog rising up through the ranks of boxing this would mean that the moral of my piece was that you can achieve anything you want even if you are not necessarily in the best position to do this.

I think that my audience would be mainly males as the genre of my piece is mainly seen as a male genre. Also it would be aimed at both ends of the social scale so ABC1C2DE although C2DE people may be more likely to get my message as they can become more connected with the character as they have more of a social link.

The institution that would distribute my film would be a fairly big company which is known for having good action films of a similer kind to mine. I think my film would be more of a cinema film and so would be played in the cinema before going out on to dvd.

I feel that I addressed my audience by using a character that they can see themselves in, this way I could draw them in and keep their attention.

Before I started my product I didn't really know much about the technologies I used as I had never really had a chance to use things like the editing softwares, although I had a little experience in using cameras it had been a long time ago, so most of the skills I needed I picked up either through trial and error or help from my peers. I did my work on a mac and had never used a mac before so didn't really know what softwares to use and I didn't know how to upload my footage, so I watched some other people and then attempted it for myself. I asked some of my friends their opinions on what editing software to use and they said to use imovie as it was good software and it was simple to use. I then selected parts of my footage and started to construct a story out of it after this was done I played around with some effects I could use for example slow motion. I then decided to include some titles as this had been done in some other films I had seen showing the names of the actors in the film and the name of the film.

From my preliminary task I have learned that to have a good 180 degree rule it must have smooth cuts or it wont work, also I learned that my piece must have enough action in to keep the audience interested.
